Matt,

I am not familiar with the "Ripped System", but I do suggest that in order to preserve lean muscle while "cutting', generally two things are necessary:

1) Continue your strength training. If you are cutting calories, I would suggest shorter sessions with less volume and greater load.

2) Short, intense interval sessions as described above.

Monitor and adjust training load and nutrition on a bi-weekly basis as necessary.

Additionally, just getting out and walking can burn calories without taxing your recovery and can be very effective when added to strength training and intervals.

Hey, i have been working out for probably 3 or 4 years now, I have quite a base of muscle mass and want to try and get more defined or cut. I am about to take the Ripped System(Except the DRY at then end of cycle)and am curious as to the best way that i should be doing my cardio to try to maximize how defined I could get.

Any opinions or ideas would be helpful,

Thanks

It's really endemic of the fact we are "quick fix" society. Not necessarily the "best" or "right" solution - just the one with the least perceived pain.

I saw this on the news last night and could not believe that they were suggesting drugs before fitness and nutrition. Even adults taking these drugs want to be off them and many have serious complications for adults, I can't imagine they are any better for kids. People really need to get it together and start paying attention to what they feed their kids and themselves for that matter.

Thanks for discussing this topic.

Thank-you!

Both groups are working hard. It's a lot of fun because each class has it's own "personality". Everybody gets along great, and by week 2 they really push each other. It's a dynamic you just don't get in a typical gym workout.

Did I mention that it was more like 300 wasted calories because I ended up eating one of each flavor. Yeah, that was smart!!

I ran into this article by accident and I'm sitting here just laughing because of the comment you made "Well for starters, at least if you’re anything like me, what’s the likelihood you can eat only one of these packs at a time?"

I am guilty as charge...it was 100 empty wasted calories I could have invested in a nutrition packed protein bar or protein shake. I stopped buying these. I figure if I want cookies and milk then I'll just buy it, eat it and be done with it. That also means I'll have to work harder in the gym but it's the price you have to pay to indulge once in a while.

Great article.
Thanks.

This is incredible.

"I can't" shouldn't be in anyone's vocabulary. We all can. We choose not to accomplish something and then we pretend our reasons are not excuses.

Ultra Size is a protein blend developed by Dr. Eric Serrano and manufactured by Beverly International. In my opinion the Beverly line contains the best protein supplements available, and for this reason are the only protein powders we use and sell to our clientele. Ultra Size is the most suitable to use for cooking, and is very versatile.

You can learn more about Beverly and Ultra Size at this link. http://www.cr8health.com/beverly-international/

Here's the recipe (Courtesy of Beverly International)
http://www.cr8health.com/beverly-international/

Protein Muffins

6 scoops Ultra Size Vanilla
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
4 egg beaters (I use egg whites)
Dried fruit or walnuts (optional)
1 cup water

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix all ingredients thoroughly and pour into greased muffin tin. Bake approximately 28 - 30 minutes or until golden brown. 8 servings.

Variation: replace vanilla with Chocolate Ultra Size and replace cinnamon with 1 tsp. vanilla extract.

Per serving (without dried fruit or walnuts):
103 calories
3.5 g fat
17 g protein
4 g carbs

These are good with a little no sugar added preserves or jam. They bake much like a popover.

I just read a great article about skin and how the foods we eat affect our skin. They sited the old adage "You are what you eat". You can read the article at http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/11/071109201438.htm

It is interesting to see the correlation between our healthy eating habits, keeping our bodies physically healthy, and how that makes our skin look. The article did say they found a link between eating low glycemic foods and a lower acne breakout. Some one should tell teenagers!
