I don’t feel like it either!
I’ve got a cold. This is pretty unusual for me - being sick.
It’s not the kind of sick that will keep you in bed, but I sure haven’t felt like doing a whole lot, especially the last day or two.
My cold has been hanging around for about 10 days. I looked to see how many days in the last 10 I have trained.
Seven.
So why am I telling you this?
Because when I am not feeling well I don’t feel like training either.
Now don’t get me wrong. I didn’t do a full fledged weight training and interval session all those days. In fact on some of them I spent the whole time in flexibility training (stretching - which is a very good thing to do when you are under the weather, by the way).
The point is I did something. And the reason I did ”something” when I felt like doing “nothing” is because I know me.
I know that if I let myself go for 2 days, it turns into 5 days, which turns into 10 days which turns into…well, you get the picture.
Often when we get ill it is our bodies telling us something is out of balance, that we need to slow down. We need to listen to that.
But slowing down and stopping are two different thing.
Don’t get caught in the trap of “doing nothing”.
What have you done TODAY to get closer to your goals?

I can so relate to this post. I was recently hit hard by a sinus cold but I refused to let it get it me down and out. I went to the gym and did, as you say, “something”–some days just cardio, others stretching, weight training–kept it light and easy. I honestly feel that because I exercised, I also drank more water, my head cleared a lot faster. Reading this post is like reading my mind. Can’t let it go for more than a couple of days or I may never go back
Thanks.

The battle lies mostly in the mind. When we are disciplined, and do what we know we need to even when we don’t want to, it gives a sense of accomplishment that drives us further. Great job!
