I can so relate to this post.  I was recently hit hard by a sinus cold but I refused to let it get it me down and out.  I went to the gym and did, as you say, "something"--some days just cardio, others stretching, weight training--kept it light and easy.  I honestly feel that because I exercised, I also drank more water, my head cleared a lot faster.  Reading this post is like reading my mind.  Can't let it go for more than a couple of days or I may never go back  ;-)
