Be Flexible!: Back Pain

80% of Americans will experience back pain at some point in their lives, yet few know what causes their pain or what steps can be taken on a daily basis to help prevent back injury.
The aim of this class is to explore some of the common causes of low back pain, as well as introduce a strategy for prevention and relief of back pain through flexibility training. We will discuss some common causes and symptoms of back pain, as well as treatment options available.
We will then actively seek to address some underlying causes of the pain by learning and performing a system of stretch progressions designed to help the body “relearn” to function as it was designed. We will be doing floor based stretching movements, so please dress appropriately for exercise. You will also need a large towel to stretch with and as a cushion for some exercises.
Stretching is an intense and invigorating activity, so be prepared to hurt a little but learn a lot!
