More like stupid.  I don't see anything wrong with crawling over the line.  But you would think that she would have figured out after the first two times that she stood up and rebroke her leg that it probably wasn't a good idea.

Hindsight is 20/20, and she is hopefully still young enough to recover completely, but ruining your career over one race isn't worth it.

I'm obviously not as tough as she is, because when I was her age (damn that was a long time ago) and I fell down the side of a mountain during a race and broke my ankle, I didn't finish.  I just rolled off of the course after the leaders caught back up to me and spiked me as they ran over me.  Not only didn't I finish the race, but I missed the entire next season as well.</description>
